Deep Blue Sea Nails

Hai Pink Nerds,
Sorry for the lack of blogging yesterday, like I said, I had a friend over. I must admit that we were up 'till 4:30am watching Law & Order SVU... :) Anyway, sorry for not blogging the other day! However! I did my nails again yesterday and to pictures so at least I have something to blog about! I call this look 'Deep Blue Sea' because it has this dark but shimmery and mysterious blue sparkle and it reminds me so much of shimmering dark seas. Anyway, here's the how-to.

Step 1: Buy the nail polish

For this particular look, you need the same or very similar nailpolish. The base coat should be the same kind of sky blue colour and the top coat MUST be slightly clear, blue based, sparkly blue with purple fleks that shimmer in the light. I used Sally Hansen Xtreme wear in Blue Me Away (available at Walmart, Shoppers Drugmart, Walgreens etc.) and Warpaint Beauty in Galaxy (available at Hot Topic - hottopic.com)

Step 2: Base coat

Use a light blue (sky blue) nailpolish for the base coat. The top coat may seem like it doesn`t need a base coat but sparkly nailpolishes can be decieving! The blue base coat will give your nails the light summery feel that is key to the look. Do 1 full coat.

Step 3: Top Coat

This coat is the key to the Deep Blue Sea. Before you do this step, be sure that the first coat is totally dry. That way your nails will dry faster and they`ll be less likely to smudge or chip. Once the first coat is dry, do 2 or 3 coats of the sparkly blue polish. Make sure that every coat is dry before you do another coat.

Hope you like the nails! The colour is even cooler in person if the lighting is light.

Luv ya,
Meaghan ♥
